We would like to share the story of one small but incredibly brave girl named Myroslava.
Myroslava is only 3 years old. She is from Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi in the Odesa region, has two older sisters, and a beloved cat named Bonya. However, two years ago, she fell ill, and her family’s life changed dramatically.
One morning, Myroslava was simply unable to get out of bed. Medical tests revealed hydrocephalus, and later an MRI detected a brain tumor.
Her first surgery was performed by specialists in Odesa and lasted 10 hours. At that time, doctors were able to remove only 90% of the tumor. This was followed by severe complications, swelling, and temporary vision loss in one eye.
Despite everything, Myroslava proved to be incredibly strong and courageous — she recovered and continued her fight. Ahead was a year of treatment at St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital in Lviv, including 12 chemotherapy sessions. The doctors believed in her — and a miracle happened: the tumor disappeared. The final months of treatment took place at the Odesa Children’s Hospital.
Unfortunately, after four months, a relapse occurred.
Her parents immediately brought Myroslava back to St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital, where she underwent another surgery. This time, the tumor was completely removed.
At present, Myroslava is undergoing chemotherapy and recovering after surgery.
With the support of our sponsors and volunteers, we were able to raise funds and cover the cost of medical supplies for Myroslava’s surgery, including tumor removal and shunt placement.
The total cost of the medical materials amounted to 170,300 UAH, a significant portion of which was provided by our partners from Germany: LandsAid e.V. and Aktion Deutschland Hilft. We sincerely thank them and everyone who contributes to helping children receive treatment in Ukraine during these challenging times.
