The day of one’s birthday is the day when any individual expects an unexpected and pleasant surprise.
Children in the hematology department usually undergo long-term oncology treatment of at least 6 months, staying in the hospital sometimes up to a year, so the probability that the child is going to celebrate his birthday in the hospital is quite high.
It is very important that the life of children in the hospital is not put on hold. This is the reason that Evum started the initiative “Birthday in the hospital”. Every time one of our heroes is celebrating his/her birthday, an incredibly delicious cake is prepared and decorated based on what the child is interested in, a thoughtful gift is picked, taking into consideration the child’s interests, and we cannot forget to buy some festive balloons. At a pre-decided time, together with the team of dedicated doctors and nurses, our volunteers come to the child’s ward to celebrate with them. Our volunteers congratulate the children and prove to them that life goes on, that no one has forgotten about them, that we are close and will help fight this terrible disease in every way we can. We are sure to capture a moment of joy and a whirlwind of positive emotions on video and photos, so that children and their parents will remember this happy day for a long time.
