What color associations do you usually have with the word “hospital”? Long corridors with poor lighting, white rooms, an unmemorable reception and a plain procedure room. All this emphasizes the feeling of anxiety, fear and sadness from the procedures that await you.

There are many modern studies on art therapy and the psychology of color, which prove the mutual influence of surrounding color schemes and drawings on the well-being of not only patients, but also doctors. Yes, orange stimulates the appetite, and blue satiates it, green calms and reduces eye fatigue, etc.

But let’s think about what would be best for the children of the hematological oncology department. First of all, a monotonous life only adds to the child’s sadness during a long stay in the hospital. Here, children need daily positive vibes, happiness and fun, which will stimulate their positivity and add strength in their fight for their health.

Since 2020, because of all the efforts of local artist Iryna Ternopilskaya, the hematology department at the Chernihiv Regional Children’s Hospital (CRCH) is gradually taking on the image of a happy childhood, which is varied and fun.

The Evum NGO team gradually repaired the walls of the department and bought colorful paints to change the hospital feel. Mrs. Iryna devoted her free time and inspiration to create colorful and inspirational drawings that add positivity and happiness to children undergoing a difficult and long-term treatment in the department.

To date, several wonderful photo zones have already been made, butterflies fluttering in the corridors, and funny animals that greet children every day.

The day hospital, which is currently still in the process of being arranged, has images of super heroes in which every heroic fighter can find himself being brave and courageous. We thank Iryna Ternopilskyi for her kind heart and creativity.
