Evum creates comfortable conditions for the treatment of young patients using the donations of sponsors and the participation of volunteers. This is one of the key areas of support and assistance provided. In the department of pediatric oncology, together with the administration and staff of the hospital, we try to create the most cozy and comfortable living conditions for mothers and children undergoing treatment.
Previously, the department had outdated appliances and needed a lot of repairs. In some places, the construction and equipment dates back to Soviet times. We were able to purchase and deliver the furniture and appliances necessary to meet the requirements of comfortable living due to our charity initiative.
This is a necessity, because children and their parents spend a long time in the department, and the appropriate conditions have to be created for them to feel at home and to adjust their lives in the hospital.
Buying a washing machine for parents
In order for parents not to waste precious time transporting their children’s (and their own) belongings home to wash them, we installed a washing machine directly in the pediatric oncology department using donated funds from our sponsors. Now every mother, father or guardian can use it to wash their and their children’s belongings when necessary.
Arrangement of the kitchen
Tasty and healthy food plays a key role in the healing process. Given that hospital food is not always medically appropriate for some small patients, we have purchased and upgraded some of the kitchen equipment.
The old, broken electric stove was replaced with a modern, reliable model. In addition, the kitchen now has a multicooker and an electric kettle, so that everyone can independently prepare home-made food for their own child according to his/her own needs, preferences and diets.
Improvement of conditions in hospital wards
Evum also participated in the renovation of the outdated interior and finishing of the hospital rooms in the department. Changing tables for children and bedside tables were installed, which created comfortable conditions for mothers of babies, now it is an accessible and more convenient way to take care of the little ones. Special hospital cots were also installed for babies. These cots create a safe and cozy environment for the smallest patients.
Corresponding improvements in the living conditions of the children’s hospital are one of the many important steps in the direction of creating a full-fledged comfortable environment for the treatment and recovery of young patients. We believe that by providing comfort for mothers and their children, we help them overcome difficult moments and return to a happy and healthy life faster.
