The charity project “Make a Dream Come True” is an annual initiative to raise funds for children undergoing cancer treatment in the Department of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology of the Chernihiv Regional Children’s Hospital. The goal of the project is to realize the wishes and dreams of young patients, to give them joy on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Every year, this charitable initiative helps realize the wildest dreams of children who are going through the difficult path of chemotherapy. Every year, Evum organizes such a holiday for young patients, which makes their wishes come true, gives joy and care, and supports children in their struggle with their serious illness.
This year, we started to prepare for such a special day three months in advance. Why was it done in advance and took a long time to prepare? Because the dreams of our little heroes are big. In order to realize them, we need a lot of support from the volunteer community and we need to collect the necessary funds from our sponsors to be able to buy gifts and create this surprise for the children.
This year, the “Make a Dream Come True” project fulfilled the cherished wishes of 28 children – some of these children are undergoing an intensive course of chemotherapy, others are prescribed oral chemotherapy. Their dreams were so diverse; however we managed to make them come true, because of all the help and donations we receive from our volunteers and sponsors, respectively.
Among the most interesting gifts were: bicycles, computers, LOL dolls, smartwatches, Pandora rings, telephones, cars, musical instruments, sewing machines, activity boards, constructors, scooters and many other children’s dreams.
Sixteen different companies and private benefactors joined our charity event, thanks to which we managed to collect an incredible sum of 177,363 hryvnias. These funds became an important tool in realizing the dreams of each one of the 28 young patients.
The last week before the holidays was filled with an incredible atmosphere for children who are expecting a miracle and a lot of joy . Some of them could not hold back their emotions and woke up early every day in order to get a little closer to the realization of their dreams.
Due to the safety measures related to the Covid-19 pandemic, our volunteers greeted each little hero individually, separately from the others. It took a little longer than originally planned, but it was a completely necessary and justified step.
When a child entered the room waiting for his/her most desired gift, his/her eyes shined bright with joy and his/her smile expressed the best “Thank You” to all those who managed to bring this charity project to life.
Children jumped with happiness, sometimes crying with joy. Every moment was unique, because children’s emotions are always sincere. We are sure that these memories left their mark in the hearts of our little friends, giving them additional strength to fight and recover. Even a week after the event, the children continued to shine with happiness.
From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank our good friends, volunteers, sponsors and all the caring people who contributed to the implementation of the “Make a Dream Come True” project. Thanks to you, Evum was able to give children a piece of carefree happiness and faith in a better future.
Together, we always manage to realize children’s dreams, making the world brighter and kinder one step at a time. We wish all our little heroes health, happiness and for all their wildest dreams to come true!
