Day after day, our little superheroes courageously fight for life, they fight with their main enemy – cancer. Children diagnosed with cancer spend their childhood in isolation. The activities and entertainment that are available to healthy children are not available to our fighters. They cannot freely play with peers, go to school or kindergarten. Many spend months exclusively behind the walls of hospitals. However, like all children, they have the right to a bright childhood in all its manifestations. Not every adult can cope with the difficulties these children are facing, but it is in our hands to give them a ray of goodness and hope, a feeling that they are not alone in their fight against this disease.
June 1, Children’s Day, is a celebration not only for children, but also for those who are close to them. Children treated in the haematology department of the Chernihiv Regional Children’s Hospital were given an unforgettable day full of positive emotions. Huge soap bubbles, and a lot of entertainment – everything that children are delighted with. Together with Yulia Pisarenko, they experienced happiness.
Now each of them has his/her own mascot – a cheerful goose. Together with Yulia Zavada, everyone sewed the one they imagined to accompany them.
Lviv also took over the baton. Many children with severe cases are treated in Lviv and many have unfavourable results . They are forbidden to communicate with each other or leave the ward. Fortunately, there is no ban on happiness and gifts.
Although the party was without animators, the children received funny geese. Everyone received a kit to sew their goose. Some kids put off the set for later, someone enlisted the help of their parents and quickly got to work.
Lyudmila Hlibovets prepared the geese in advance. Tanya, a girl who is being treated in the haematology department, called the goose Max and the two of them visited several hospital rooms. Even if we could not see all the children smiling because of their extremely difficult condition, we hope they smiled with their hearts. After all, love and care do work wonders.
Our partners – LandsAid e. V. – helped to organise this celebration for the children. Our partners are always here and they always lend a helping hand. During this difficult period of treatment and painful procedures, they give children emotional support, they give the children a feeling that it is a holiday and that the kids are not separated from outside life. We are infinitely grateful to our patrons for gifts on birthdays and holidays, for the help with treatments, for making the world brighter and kinder for our children.
All of us are currently going through an incredibly difficult path, but we must not forget that there are those who need our help. Joint efforts can change these children’s worlds for the better and give them hope and faith in life, which is exactly what we are doing with the help of LandsAid e. V.
